ETBCM ISSUES
Below are some simple steps with pictures I made when I was receiving intermittent DIC Codes for Traction Control and ABS Service. I can’t say it will fix your issues but worth a shot before you pay $$$$$$$$$$$ for a new EBCM ! All maintenance is performed at YOUR own Risk !! Locating the ETBCM & BTCM
Drain Radiator & remove upper radiator hose for easier access.
1. Disconnect the connector by flipping the “Bale” holding it and depressing the tab shown. Carefully pull the connector to your left. Check the Connector Pins and clean with a Electronic Connector Cleaner.
2. Remove (4) Four Screws holding the Electronics Package on the EBCM. Top (2) two are shown below. Also unscrew the nut on the center retainer at the bottom of the Electronics Package. Carefully Push the EBCM until it can be lifted UP from the center retainer. You will have to push to the right to dislodge the unit and lift up sightly before you can slide the electronics to the left to remove it. (See Pictures Below to locate screws and center bottom retainer)
3. Check and clean the Connectors on the Electronics Unit Itself using a proper Electronic component / switch cleaner.
Below is the main body of the EBCM that IS NOT removed ! Do not attempt to do ANYTHING to this part of the unit !
